House Plans and Design Considerations


All too often, energy management is considered when it is too late to incorporate energy savings concepts into the design of a home. Whether you're building a new home or remodeling an existing one, let your architect know upfront that energy management and home comfort are imortant elements in the design of your home.

Other design considerations:

• Install water spigots and drains in your basement and garage.
• Add an additional bay to the garage for workshop and storage space.
• Add a mud room immediately upon entering the house from the garage or exiting the house into a garage.
• Install multi-zone heating and cooling.
• Install all cable, phone jacks, security systems, stereo, and Internet wiring before dry walling.
